Emily is a 21 year old undergraduate student at the University of Queensland. She is about to commence her fifth year of study, having undertaken a bachelor of journalism majoring in popular music and a bachelor of arts majoring in classical history and languages. Emily is looking forward to gaining experience reporting overseas in Vietnam. As a keen student of history, culture and languages, she is excited to face the challenge of working within a country vastly different from Australia.

Giulietta Avenia is a final year Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of Arts student majoring in Philosophy. She is fascinated by cultures around the world and the different experiences and understandings that can be gained. She wishes to pursue this love of learning through a journalism career focusing on food, travel and social studies.

When she finishes university in 2018, she plans to be a journalist, but what kind she hasn't decided yet. Grace Wilson

Grace Wilson is embarking on the final year of her dual Journalism/Communications degree, majoring in Public Relations & Issues Management. She has experience writing for street press publications and has worked as a freelance videographer, but considers her main area of interest to be broadcast journalism. Upon graduating she hopes to pursue a career in radio current affairs, either as a reporter or producer.

She is a passionate and enthusiastic journalist who has been given the incredible opportunity this year to travel with nine other Journalism students to Vietnam where she will be reporting about the cultural, social and economic growth of the country.

Kai Hayes

Kai Hayes is entering his third year at the University of Queensland, studying a dual degree in a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Business Management. He currently works as a Social Media Producer in the Nine Network’s Brisbane newsroom and has a keen interest in politics, aviation and music. Kai hopes the experience in Vietnam will assist with ambitions to one day live and work overseas as a producer or reporter in broadcast journalism.

Rhiannon Smith is in her final year of a Bachelor of Journalism/Communications, majoring in Public Relations, at the University of Queensland. She is no stranger to South-east Asia, having visited Vietnam a number of times. However, this time Rhiannon is armed with a camera and ready to share her experiences with the world. Whilst in Vietnam, she hopes to adapt, build upon and further hone her journalism skills.
